The Americans call their 1960s instrumental groups 'surf bands' so it is appropriate that the most successful group performing in this genre should take advantage of the surfing craze by releasing this surf themed album. (US:30)

"The Ventures were never really a 'surf' band. They started out before the genre came into vogue and extended into surf music during its popularity."

"Their Surfing album was one of their best and this is a worthwhile purchase for any Ventures fan."

"They do covers of songs, but they reverse engineer and reinvent them, so what we hear is something different and more intensified."

"The premier instrumental band of the 60s and well worth a listen."

"The Ventures were never a 'surf band' as their style demonstrated through the years. However, this particular album shows the ability of the band to adapt itself to whatever music craze that came along."

"This is a terrific album with a definite surf theme and The Ventures went ‘all out’ in their effort to get the job done. This album is highly recommended for your Ventures music collection."

"Lead guitarist Nokie Edwards wrote perhaps the best-known song from the album, Surf Rider."

"These selections are some of the best guitar music ever played. Loud at parties for dancing, or low background for serious smooching, this album is tops."
