Soundpower – MARTY GOLD ORCHESTRA***

I’ll Remember April/Stella By Starlight/The Moon Was Yellow/The Terry Theme From Limelight/Without A Song/Harlem Nocturne/Shangri-La/A String Of Pearls/I Left My Heart In San Francisco/I Concentrate On You/Till There Was You/Misty

Space age pop arranger and composer Marty Gold achieved his only US album chart entry with Soundpower. It featured upbeat arrangements of old standards, reaching No. 10. Subtitled 'music to the limits of audibility' the album demonstrated RCA’s newly introduced 'Dynagroove' recording process. (US:10)

"This is one killer record. Marty uses it as an opportunity to stretch his highs and lows as far apart as possible using the entire orchestra in dramatically inventive and creative ways."

"Much prized by today's collectors of space-age lounge-pop."

"The limits explored are the farther ones in sound - not the lower tones at the end of hearing. Marty Gold does a very good job of hitting the heights with his bold orchestrations."

"Orchestrations are often a bit more complicated than the usual bachelor pad record, with lots of complex horn patterns."
