Latin influenced folk singer and guitarist Trini Lopez achieved his third US top twenty album success with The Latin Album which features a collection of Spanish songs. (US:18)
"Lopez's performances are jaunty but passionate, and about as authentically Latin as could be expected from an LP of this type. Don Costa's arrangements make more concessions to the mainstream audience, but they leave Lopez plenty of room to indulge in the occasional vocal acrobatics to be expected on a Latin record."
"The Latin Album has some really wonderful songs performed by that masterful artist, the great Trini Lopez. This is some of Trini's best artistry and that's terrific. The quality of these marvellous sounds is excellent. Trini Lopez could never truly be forgotten; he was an incredibly talented man who could perform anything."
"This LP is solid with great interpretations of beautiful Spanish songs."
"Trini Lopez high energy and emotional style shows why these classics have endured forever. These songs will be part of musical lore for another 60 years. His voice is smooth, the songs lively and universal in appeal. A real gem."
"What a great song is Perfidia and what a wonderful interpretation."
"Adalita starts the album with a fine song, Trini sings it with a lot of energy and the guitar work greatly enhances the excitement of this ballad."
"Bésame Mucho is a major highlight of this album; Trini does this one up right. It charms me with its beauty; what a romantic and timeless ballad."
"Cu Cu Rru Cu Cu is done so well that it would make Harry Belafonte green with envy. Trini really puts his own stamp on this ballad with his incredible sense of timing and a delivery from his heart and soul."
