Popular mid sixties American pop group Paul Revere & The Raiders achieved their first US album top twenty entry with Just Like Us!. Just Like Me was a US No. 11 hit single. The group never troubled the British charts. (US:5)
"Another outing of cover songs. They should have stayed away from the slow numbers and concentrated on the uptempo rock songs. Still the album showed progress, as they were the house band on the TV show Where The Action Is, which gave them massive exposure and helped them to refine their sound."
"I’ve always felt Paul Revere and The Raiders fell short of both the British Invasion and American garage rock. They were a tight enough unit but in no way did they demand the attention and respect of bands such as The Seeds or The Sonics. They were like the Shaun Cassidy of garage rock." "The first truly substantial album by Paul Revere and The Raiders, whose prowess as a singles band meant that their albums were occasionally pretty slapdash affairs. Just Like Us contains not one but two classic garage-stomp hits, Steppin' Out and the truly astonishing Just Like Me. The rest of the album leans mostly towards sturdy rave-ups of recent singles."
"If you were one of those kids who ran home from school in order to see Where The Action Is, then this album is for you. It's Paul Revere and The Raiders just after they first hit it big on the Dick Clark produced show. You'll recognize their earliest hits along with some great cover songs."
"It's not fair that a group that produced so much memorable, and just downright fun music, should be forgotten. It's not just that they were about the most popular group in America between '65 and '68, it's that they were so good at it. Just Like Us was certainly a turning point. If you want garage rock done extremely well, you got it."
"This is truly a 60s rock album which you just have to love. It includes their hit singles Steppin' Out and Just Like Me. Every song on this album is truly a good song to listen to. This is one of The Raiders top albums."
