A Man & A Woman – SOUNDTRACK***

A Man & A Woman/Samba Saravah/Today Its You/A Man & A Woman/Stronger Than Us/Today Its You/In Our Shadow/Stronger Than Us/124 Mile An Hour

The French romantic movie A Man & A Woman starred Jean-Louis Trentignant and Anouk Aimee with music scored by Francis Lai. The soundtrack album features some Latin influences. (US:10 UK:31)

"Despite being so accessible the album's tone is quite sophisticated, featuring Latin influences, modern pop instruments like electric organs, and of course all that French dialogue that I don't understand but which sounds very chic."

"This is one of the most romantic soundtracks from one of the most romantic films ever made. The lilting melodies are sometimes like a lullaby and others like a tumultuous gathering at Le Mans. The theme song which is sung in English is sensitive, sad and very memorable. By all means see the film with your best girl and a bottle of wine. Listen to the soundtrack over and over. Enjoy. Unforgettable."

"Even if you've never seen the film, chances are you've heard the la la lala lala-la music somewhere at some point in time and never had a clue where it came from. The odds are stacked in favour that it had something to do with something exceptionally French. And so it should be. Cheesy, very groovy and romantic. Francis Lai's haunting soundtrack really does the job, but also works on its own as funky cocktail party music. What can I say? get the vin de table in, cook up some shellfish and plonk this on the turntable. Ca va?"

"Have it on all the time in the car. Love this music. Score and film are still incredible to listen to and watch. Like a cool 'West Coast' jazz album by Getz, Mulligan, and the like, this music haunts the soul and burns with cool desire - 'bonheure' the French call it; ever been in love?"

"Brings back wonderful memories of a great film which is the romantic movie of all time. The music is fabulous and still thrills me. It evokes the magic and sentiment of the film. Absolutely adore it."

"Most of Un Homme Et Une Femme is simply wonderful - especially Samba Saravah, and of course all incarnations of the title track."
