Suddenly One Summer was the sole album released by the studio group J. K. & Co, the brainchild of the 15 year old Jay Kaye. The music has been described as orchestral baroque psychedelia.

“This is one that deserves to be heard along any other Summer of Love classic. Its a mix of orchestral psych pop with some interesting sound effects, backward guitars and upfront trippy vocals.”

“This is a wonderful album, orchestral psych for the most part, with occasional horns. Fly really is the best track, and Nobody is also great. This is definitely an overlooked gem of the era.”

“This is a most excellent album. One that gets it all right, one that really does have the ability to transport you into some hazy, slightly surreal headspace. The experience can be likened to floating lazily along a slowly moving river. Each track contributes to the whole experience and never strays too far away from the pattern. No jarring filler that takes away from the flow, no dabbles in different genres to show how clever he is, just a consistently great baroque psych album. While each of the tracks are excellent, Fly does stand a bit above the others.” ,p> “Clever use of effects and phasing throughout. Nobody stands out in particular, Jay delivers with this heartfelt ballad accompanied by acoustic guitar, soaked in mellow organ.”

“Beautiful, orchestral, baroque psychedelia. Not a duff track among the set. The back story about the kid who wrote, sung and recorded this album makes it all the more impressive. This would be a phenomenal record by a well seasoned band/musician. It has moments of beauty that catch my ear and imagination.”

“Full of backward tapes, heavy orchestration, segue ways between songs and odd studio effects, material such as Fly, Little Children and Nobody offered up a dark, dreamy and studied collection of LSD-influenced psychedelia. Dreamy, soft psychedelic concept album, depicting musically a man’s life from birth to death. An undiscovered classic that should be required listening for psych fans.”
