Far Canal was the well received second and final album from the London based rock group Jody Grind. They combined hard rock with jazz, blues and classical influences, featuring Hammond organ and twin guitars.
“Far Canal was the second and also the last album by Jody Grind. And it's a lot better record than their debut album - this is much more solid and entertaining. Their style is more guitar driven and jam oriented on this album. Some awesome guitar work can be found from this hard progressive rock package.”
“A much better recording then their first effort. Not so much blues and more psychy hard rock with soaring guitars. Better written tunes and they are well played. If that late 60s, early 70s, hard rock sound turns you on, you will like this.”
“A revamped line-up for this second release yields a slight improvement over an already very good debut. This one features cool prog influenced jam rock, with searing guitar passages and some nice vocal harmonies, as well as a few soft instrumentals.” ,p> “We've Had It is a great prog song, with its classical theme and socially aware lyrics. The rest of the album is more or less standard acid psych.”
“One of the best obscure and underrated albums of the early 70s. Perfectly introduced by a classical influenced twin acoustic guitar theme, We’ve Had It is the best start for the follower of Jody Grind debut. A baroque tune with an intense emotion and dramatic feel.”
