In Person – ROBERT GOULET***

Robert Goulet achieved his second 1963 US album top twenty success with In Concert, a live performance from the Chicago Opera House, staying in the chart for nearly six months. (US:16)

"Duddy and Bresler wrote showy but forgettable tunes that gave Goulet a chance to exercise his big baritone, but the set might have been better filled with higher quality material."

"The set is a showcase for Goulet's skills and naturally features some bravura singing, but the patter is too slick and the special material is mediocre."

"The songs on In Person are noticeably a mixture of the good and mediocre. Goulet's act was written by Jerry Bresler and Lyn Duddy, who imposed a handful of their forgettable songs on him. Happily, they also left room for such standards as All Or Nothing At All and Soliloquy from Carousel, and a medley of Lerner & Loewe show tunes."

"The live In Person album shows his vocal talents off very well. It captures a young performer not yet totally at ease in the patter between songs, but nailing every song he sings."

“Once in a blue moon a voice like this comes along and you can't believe what you're hearing. One of the best male voices I have ever heard." "What a wonderful song is If Ever I Would Leave You. I could listen to this everyday. This is music unlike what we have today."
