On Stage, Elvis Presley's second live album since his late sixties renaissance, featured mostly contemporary tunes. Recorded at the Las Vegas International Hotel in February 1970 it includes the UK chart topper and US No. 9 The Wonder Of You. (US:13 UK:2)

"Probably Elvis' best live album and one of my favourite live albums of all time. Compared to Elvis in Person from the year before, an all-out rock 'n' roll storm which found him mostly looking back on his 50s hits, here he shows his modern side, entering the 70s. It contains the definitive versions of Elvis classics The Wonder of You, Polk Salad Annie and Walk A Mile In My Shoes. Interesting that all the songs are cover versions of some kind, but it's nothing but a 100% Elvis record and far from routine or oldies revisiting."

"A vigorous live set culled from Elvis' second full season of shows at the Las Vegas International Hotel. The album presents Elvis performing songs he had not previously recorded, and which represented, for the most part, contemporary rock/country sounds."

"Elvis Presley began the 1970s with the release of his second live album. This was good news and bad news. The good news was that On Stage was an energetic release of songs that were new to his catalogue at that time. Elvis did not recycle older material but took some chances and attacked the song choices with passion. The bad news was that he would become increasingly dependent upon live releases. They proved to be an easy way to issue an album and would gradually decline in quality as the seventies progressed."

"Elvis was at his peak when he made this album. It was recorded during his Vegas comeback series and it shows. This is Elvis at his most clear sounding and strong voice. The song selection is also some of his best. Highly recommended."

"In a word 'electrifying’. If you want to get a sense of what it was like to be in the front row at the International Hilton in Las Vegas, this is it. Elvis is at the top of his game, his voice is strong, crisp and the TCB band is doing just that (taking care of business). So sit back relax and enjoy the concert."
