Wild In The Streets – SOUNDTRACK***

Love To Be Your Man/Free Lovin’/Fifty Two Per Cent/Shape Of Things To Come/Psychedelic Senate/Fourteen Or Fight/Wild In The Streets/Listen To The Music/Sally Le Roy/Shelly In Camp

Wild In The Streets is a satirical teenage rebellion film starring Shelley Winters and Christopher Jones. Scored by Les Baxter, with songs by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. (US:12)

"Another strange artefact from the sixties, this contains a couple of quite obscure garage bands doing their stuff to some pretty decent material."

"This is a great soundtrack to a ridiculous movie. Still you have some heavyweights involved in the music end, namely Mike Curb arranging and conducting the musicians on a film score written by Les Baxter with songs by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. They could have done worse. This one belongs in any true pop culture record collector's archive."

"Featuring a great soundtrack most memorable for The Shape Of Things To Come, expect something along the lines of Vanilla Fudge, The Monkees, The Strawberry Alarm Clock (canned listener friendly bluesy acid rock). Its a fun/straight-through listen that will definitely take you back in time."

"A significant key to the film was the music of the legendary songwriting duo of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, featuring what was, in my estimation, very unsung (excuse the pun) gems which rank right up with all their classics."

"The songs are a lot of fun, and Les Baxter's delirious underscore, especially when Shelley Winters is sent to the LSD old folks home, is truly unique, proving him once again to be one of the most underrated composers working in films in the '50s and '60s."
