The American folk group The New Christy Minstrels reached their highest placing on the US album chart with Today. The melodic title track was a No. 17 US hit single. The Minstrels were never to make the US album top twenty again as their more traditional type of folk music was being displaced by the protest movement. (US:9)

"Anyone who remembers the group will want this record. It is timeless and well done. If you never heard them in the 60s, get this record and re-discover the magic."

"I want to highlight the great instrumentals that are interspersed among the vocals on the Today album - some very creative, some just silly, but all are special treats."

"I can remember listening to these songs a long, long time ago. They brought back good memories for me and I really like the harmony - not something you always hear today."

"Today shows the later years of NCM. As the folk scene evolved NCM moved further away from 'folkie' type stuff to more refined, mainstream music. While NCM could not compete with the likes of Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs and Joan Baez in the realm of topical folk music, this album contained many excellent songs and of course the beautiful Today."

"Today (the soundtrack from the Glenn Ford film Company Of Cowards) is a truly enjoyable album, with the title track one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever."

"NCM were my favourites growing up, because they so heavily relied on the voices, rather than a show or the instruments. It is a simple form of performance music, but when you look into the combinations of harmony and the talents that sprang into other areas from this group - it is one of the foundations of today's music."

"Love Today, great harmonies, simple but effective guitar and double bass. Long live the 60s and all the real folk music of the time."
