Talented R & B keyboard player Georgie Fame reached No. 7 on the NME album chart with his debut LP, a live set from London's Flamingo Club. Backing is from his band The Blue Flames.

"His tunes are tough, and his voice is smooth, as is his organ playing. This LP recorded in London in 1964 captures his straight up mod dance vibe."

"Recorded live at a London club, this is a bit stiffer than Fame's mid-'60s peak, but finds him gravitating toward his idiosyncratic blend of R & B and jazz. This R & B-oriented set includes covers of classics by Mose Allison, Smokey Robinson, Sonny Boy Williamson and Rufus Thomas."

"Evokes memories of sweaty Soho 60s clubs. Georgie's impressive keyboard work and funky, down-home vocal approach is more than adequately showcased here."

"Tight punchy production of London's top jazz and soul musicians, covering uptempo covers of classic material, top production of driving arrangements, with Georgie Fame's great tone and phrasing."

"It is worth buying for the tracks which really showcase a great British R & B/blues/jazz talent who has never been accorded the respect and acclaim he deserves."

"Very good record. Fame is a great artist and a mod icon."
